Čihák, Marek ; Trampota, Tomáš (advisor) ; Kruml, Milan (referee)

Vojtěch, Adam ; Trampota, Tomáš (advisor) ; Nečas, Vlastimil (referee)
The thesis "Media Regulation and its Representation in Czech Newspapers from 1991 until 2011" concerns in its theoretical part with legal regulation of media in the Czech Republic, in particular with regulation of three basic media sectors - press, radio and television broadcasting and internet. It defines basic statutes in the scope of media law and analyzes the most important legal provisions, including the activity of regulatory bodies. Furthermore, the thesis compares the Czech regulation of media with regulation in selected foreign countries. Their selection and categorization is based on three media systems as defined in the book of Daniel C. Hallin and Paolo Mancini "Comparing Media Systems". In the second part, the thesis concerns with practical analysis of media content of two Czech dailies MF Dnes and Právo in the period from 1991 until 2011. The analysis deals with articles which are somehow connected to the issue of broadcasting and press media regulation. It tries to deduce how the dailies present media regulation and if emphasizing of particular topics could influence legislative acts regulating media. In particular the thesis concentrates on the press bill and the broadcasting bill which were extensively criticised in the analyzed dailies. One of the main results of the...

Běhounková, Pavlína ; Trunečka, Ondřej (advisor) ; Macková, Veronika (referee)
This diploma thesis Protection of Olympic Symbols in Relation to the Media shows how the Czech Olympic Committee monitors the use of Olympic Symbols and how the law that protects Olympic symbols is approached by the Czech media. The main goal of this diploma thesis is to bring a professional insight into this issue, to summarize the legal norms and other accompanying rules of the International Olympic Committee and Czech Olympic Committee and to show specific examples of violations by the Czech media in informing about the Olympic Games. The diploma thesis also uncovers why specific errors in the media occur, how media deal with the protection of the Olympic symbols in the media, and how media ensure the abidance of the law within the internal structures. An integral part of this thesis is a general summary of all the rules, examples of the errors and a summary of both the media and the Czech Olympic Committee perspectives on the issue.
Teleshopping and the teleshopping programs to view of regulation
Hadaš, Jiří ; Benda, Josef (advisor) ; Miessler, Jan (referee)
The topic of this work is a specific segment of commercial media communication - teleshopping. The subject of teleshopping broadcasting is not only the direct sale of goods, but also the consumption of services, which may include participation in an interactive competition, prophecy or other esoteric service. Teleshopping as one of the forms of commercial communication is subject to the amendment to the Advertising Regulation Act, the Radio and Television Broadcasting Act and the On-demand Audiovisual Media Services Act. The case law of the Municipal Court in Prague and the Supreme Administrative Court is also an essential source of regulation. Examples of administrative practices of the Council for Radio and Television Broadcasting describe the regulation of this segment of commercial communications and it captures a wide range of potential violations of legal regulations in the case of teleshopping broadcasts. The material for the comprehensive analysis of the issue puts teleshopping in a broader context, therefore it also describes other forms of commercial communications represented in the field of television broadcasting and explains the differences between types. Attention is also paid to foreign experience, especially examples of sanctions against illegal teleshopping in selected European...
Comparison of Liberal and Democratic Corporatist Media Models in 2018
Davidová, Barbora ; Hanák, Peter (advisor) ; Miessler, Jan (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the comparison of the media systems of Great Britain, Ireland, Germany and Sweden, following the work of Hallin and Mancini's Comparing Media Systems: Three Models of Media and Politics. Using the example of these four countries, it tries to find out whether there is still a clear boundary between media systems in Liberal and Democratic Corporatist countries, or whether media systems converge towards the Liberal model as Hallin and Mancini predicted. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and an analytical part. The theoretical part introduces the term "media system" and also several different typologies of media systems with special emphasis on Hallin and Mancini's typology. The analytical part compares national media systems according to four parameters: the structure of media markets, the degree of political parallelism, professionalization of journalism and the role of the state - each of these parameters is described in a separate chapter. The work uses data from recent research, publications and articles and compares them with data from the original Hallin and Mancini's publication. It attempts to describe as accurately as possible the present state of the media systems of the four above mentioned countries, both individually and in total. Findings of the...

Dvořáková, Petra ; Moravec, Václav (advisor) ; Jirků, Jan (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to describe the current conditions for journalists in Morocco based on the theoretical background of journalism in the country as well as personal interviews with journalists. Specifically, this thesis is focused on the methods by which the Moroccan state restricts journalism and media. The theoretical part is divided into three chapters. In the first, I describe the historical and social context of today's situation. In the second, I cover regulatory legislation as it pertains to journalism and the media. In the final chapter, I detail the various restrictions troubling journalists, not just from legislation but also from financial pressure and government surveillance of individuals. This paper focuses primarily on journalism conditions in Morocco during the past ten years, but I also took into account prior hallmark periods, selecting King Hassan II's authoritative reign as a point of comparison for the current situation journalists face. In the practical part of this paper I present the topic more widely, through a qualitative analysis of the personal testimonies of Moroccan journalists, and I take into account the questions of media quality and the education of journalists. The practical part includes three case studies of foreign journalists, who have been forbidden...

The practical part is a qualitative, diverse sample presenting the points of view of journalists from official state media as well as from independent platforms. To inform on the issue of the expulsion of foreign journalists, I present the stories of two foreign journalists as well. I also use my personal experience in Morocco to frame the thesis with a historical-social context. In the summary I compare...
